About me
Dr. Scanlon has a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. She has over 23 years of experience in the counseling field both as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and as a Certified School Counselor. She has worked in high schools, community counseling agencies, college counseling centers, and in her own private practice. In addition, Dr. Scanlon is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS). She is a Past President of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association (PCA), Past Chair of the North Atlantic Region (NAR) of the American Counseling Association (ACA), a current member of the Ethics Committee (ACA) and a member of the Ethics Review Task Force (ERFT rewriting the ACA Code of Ethics (2026).
Dr. Scanlon’s areas of research interest include supervision of counselors in training, professional counseling advocacy, professional counseling ethics and professional counselor wellness. She has presented on these topics at regional and national conferences.She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Master’s of Professional Counselor Program (MPC) at Carlow University.
