About me
Joseph Van Hannak, MA, LPC, NCC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor with over a decade of experience in diverse positions. Joe brings a wide array of work history and clinical training. Joe currently works as a tenure-track faculty member at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, providing individual and group therapy. He is currently serving as the Group Coordinator for the IUP Counsleing Center. Joe is also in the process of earning his Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision. Joe is a proud therapy nerd, who is drawn into the philosophical underpinnings of the counseling profession. He is passionate about advancing psychodynamic psychotherapy within the current counseling discourse. Joe has studied at the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Center, completing both first year and advanced programs and has completed programs at the International Psychotherapy Institute in Bethesda Maryland. Joe has worked in private practice, college counseling, in home healthcare, and in an emergency room. He works to bring academic rigor to counseling while exploring novel approaches to the complex work of human service.
