About me
Dr. John A. King, PhD, MDiv, MA, LPC (PA), NCC, is an Assistant Professor of Counseling and Core Faculty member in Liberty University’s CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Dr. King earned his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Regent University, his MDiv from Missio Seminary (formerly Biblical Seminary), and his MA in Counseling Psychology from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. King is an ordained pastor in the Brethren in Christ Church (U.S.) and brings 27 years of pastoral experience across two congregations, most recently serving at Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church. He is the co-editor of three counseling textbooks published through Kendall Hunt Publishing.Dr. King’s professional interests include the integration of Christian faith and counseling, orphan care and adoption issues, counseling pastors and their families, and the development and application of the Conceptual Mapping Task, a qualitative research and supervision tool.
