About me
Dr. Derek Parker is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania. He spent about a decade working with children, adolescents, and their families before transitioning to the field of addiction. He received his master’s degree (MA) in Professional Counseling and his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counselor Education and Supervision from Liberty University. He has been an Assistant Professor at Liberty University for over four years, and he teaches in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program. Additionally, he works at Christian Counseling Associates, where I counsel individuals and couples. Throughout his career, he has served in rural Pennsylvania. Throughout my career, he has maintained a passion for working with clients in rural and underserved communities. This has also increased his desire to advocate and promote this community as well as the counseling community. In addition to his professional work, he is also the current Treasurer of the North Atlantic Region of the American Counseling Association (NAR) and has held numerous leadership positions as both an elected officer and committee member for several state, regional, and national organizations.
