About me
David Loeffler is a counselor educator and Licensed Professional Counselor based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he owns and operates a counseling practice. He earned an MA in American Studies from the University of Wyoming and an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from California University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a doctoral candidate in the Counselor Education and Supervision program at Waynesburg University. David’s clinical background includes work in community mental health, with a focus on supporting LGBTQ+ clients. His research focuses on LGBTQ+ mental health and access to affirming counseling, with particular attention to how minority stress and perceived barriers shape help seeking and service utilization. His work is also informed by narrative therapy and social constructionist perspectives on meaning making, identity, and change across counseling, teaching, and supervision. He is an active member of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association and the current President of the Pennsylvania Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Communities.
