Clients with a history of sexual trauma are at an increased risk of developing pelvic floor dysfunction and/or functional somatic disorders. This interdisciplinary session will increase clinicians' awareness of the somatic effects of sexual trauma. Clinicians will learn how to screen for pelvic floor dysfunction, mental health tools to support pelvic floor recovery, and when to refer out to pelvic floor specialists. Additionally, this workshop will discuss the nuanced pelvic floor considerations of queer and transgender clients. This workshop will include experiential learning opportunities (e.g., gentle stretching, breathing exercises).
