From Agency to Autonomy: Navigating the Clinical Shift to Outpatient Practice (1 CE)

This session provides a clinically grounded exploration of the transition from agency work (community mental health, residential, school-based services) to outpatient therapy. Emphasis will be placed on the shift from crisis stabilization to long-term therapeutic work, as well as the increased responsibility clinicians hold in managing caseloads, documentation, and clinical decision-making independently.

Participants will examine how to recalibrate their clinical lens when working with lower acuity but often more complex, long-term concerns. The session will also address common challenges such as boundary setting, managing no-shows and cancellations, navigating insurance requirements, and avoiding burnout in a less structured environment.

Interactive components will encourage participants to reflect on their own experiences with transition, identify gaps in their current practice, and develop actionable strategies for growth.
