At the Edges of Our Field: What Interdisciplinary Collaboration Teaches Us About Training Counselors and Art Therapists (1 CE)

Session Feedback (for CEs)

This session invites participants to explore what can be learned through interdisciplinary collaboration across counseling and art therapy. Drawing on collaborative work between counselor educators and an art therapy educator, we will examine how assumptions about supervision, professional identity, and ways of knowing become more visible in shared interdisciplinary spaces.
Through guided reflection and discussion, participants will consider what might shift in their own approaches to teaching and supervision when engaging across disciplines. We will also share what surprised us in this collaboration and how we might do our work differently as a result. The session invites counselors and mental health professionals to think differently about how we prepare and supervise students - particularly within interdisciplinary settings.
