There is a need for a supervision model that enables a deeper supervision process, builds supervisory alliance, and trust for counselors experiencing trauma or a crisis. A trauma-informed supervision model will be presented to discuss the use of TIS principles to enhance the supervisory alliance and trust. There will be a focus on how to utilize respect, dignity, trust-building, emotional support, and collaboration as supervisory practices to enhance trauma-informed supervision and build a working alliance. Furthermore, a discussion on practices of how to support counselor wellness and address shared traumatic reality, secondary traumatic stress, or vicarious trauma in supervision. The presentation will include an interactive discussion of the application of the trauma-informed model. The purpose of the presentation is to inform the participants about trauma-informed supervision and provide an application of the model to practice.
