Adapting Narrative Therapy for Men Experiencing Infertility-Related Identity Disruption

This session explores how narrative therapy can be applied in counseling practice to support men experiencing infertility-related identity disruption. It examines the psychological and relational impacts of male infertility, the role of masculine norms in shaping emotional expression and help-seeking, and the ways infertility can challenge men’s sense of identity, purpose, and future life narratives. It will also demonstrate how counselors can use narrative techniques to externalize infertility, challenge restrictive masculinity narratives, and facilitate conversations that support emotional processing, resilience, and identity reconstruction.
