This workshop introduces clinical counselors to the principles and practices of multicultural competence, emphasizing culturally responsive care across diverse client populations. Participants will explore how cultural identities—including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and socioeconomic status—shape client experiences and the counseling relationship. The workshop integrates key guidelines from the American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, particularly standards related to cultural sensitivity, nondiscrimination, and counselor self-awareness (e.g., Section A.4.b. and Section E.5.b.). Through case reflective exercises, attendees will strengthen their ability to recognize bias, adapt interventions, and uphold ethical responsibilities in multicultural counseling practice.
