Embracing the Journey: Leading Clients Through Change and Healing via Pilgrimage-Based Adventure Therapy on the Camino de Santiago

This poster presentation introduces a research-informed protocol for therapist-led pilgrimage as an innovative approach to supporting clients through trauma, change, and life transition. Drawing on a three-pronged intervention model—journaling, walking-based therapy, and group processing—this study explores how the Camino de Santiago can serve as a structured therapeutic journey for individuals experiencing PTSD. Emphasis is placed on how counselors can intentionally guide clients through transformation by integrating movement, reflection, and community within a meaningful transitional experience.
