Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration in Counselor Education (CE) Programs: Counselor Educators' Perceptions & Experiences

Rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) are continually reshaping the landscape of counselor education (CE), from teaching and supervision to research, leadership, and clinical practice. Yet, ethical integration remains underexplored within CACREP-aligned frameworks. This poster presentation introduces a constructivist grounded theory study exploring counselor educators’ lived experiences with AI integration and the emergent concept of Artificial Intelligence in Counselor Education (AICE). Attendees will examine current risks and affordances of AI across CE pillars, discuss implications for professional identity and training, and consider strategies for ethically incorporating AI while preserving humanistic and developmental foundations of the counseling profession.
