This educational session explores the intersection of epigenetics, trauma, and counseling practice, highlighting how lived experiences—including adversity, stress, and resilience—can influence gene expression and shape client outcomes across the lifespan. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of epigenetic mechanisms and their relevance to trauma-informed care, including intergenerational patterns and the biological embedding of stress.
Grounded in the conference theme “Embracing the Journey: Leading Through Change & Transition,” this session equips counselors with practical, evidence-informed strategies to support clients navigating change, healing, and identity development. Attendees will learn how to translate complex biological concepts into accessible psychoeducation, empowering clients to reframe their experiences and foster resilience.
Through case examples, reflective exercises, and applied interventions, participants will leave with tools to integrate an epigenetic lens into clinical work, supervision, and advocacy—supporting meaningful transformation across diverse counseling settings.
